Dr. Tazeen Ahamad is a Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She completed her MBBS and DGO in India and earned her MS in Obstetrics and Gynecology, along with a DNB in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Additionally, she obtained a Fellowship from the National Board (FNB) in Maternal and Fetal Medicine in India and achieved an FMF (UK) Certificate of Competence in various aspects of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She has also completed the K2MS Perinatal Training Program in Australia. Dr. Ahamad is a member of SFM, FOGSI, SOMI, and IMA. Prior to joining Burjeel, she worked as a Consultant in the Department of Fetal Medicine at Rio Maternity and Children’s Hospital, Tamil Nadu. Dr. Tazeen Ahamad’s expertise includes basic and advanced specialized fetal scans, prenatal screening and invasive procedures, the management of fetal growth disorders, multiple pregnancies, high-risk pregnancies, periconceptional workup, and bereavement counseling.

Dr. Mneerva Khalil Alahmar is an experienced Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Burjeel Medical City. She brings vast experience from her training and consultant practice in Syria and the UAE. Dr. Mneerva completed her MBBS in General Surgery and Medicine and her Master’s Degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Syria. She has over 20 years of experience from various medical organizations across Syria and the UAE before joining Burjeel Medical City. She has also attended several international conferences and training sessions. Dr. Mneerva is adept in managing high-risk pregnancies, delivery and cesarean section, gynecology surgeries, and procedures like colposcopy, hysteroscopy, and ultrasound. She is well-experienced in the treatment and management of all gynecology problems and cervical cancer screening.

Dr. Wessam Alkrad, an accomplished General Practitioner with expertise in Medical Oncology, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the field, making him a valuable asset to our institution. Dr. Alkrad completed his medical degree with distinction at Syrian Private University and obtained the Syrian board certification in hematology and oncology. He has acquired significant expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of various hematological diseases and tumors. Before joining Burjeel Medical City, Dr. Alkrad worked as a General Practitioner and ICU Doctor, amassing four years of extensive experience in critical care settings. During this time, he skillfully managed a wide range of conditions including Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), asthma exacerbation, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), COVID-19, myocardial ischemia, septic shock, and hyperkalemia. His proficiency in mechanical ventilation has been crucial in ICU environments. Dr. Alkrad is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and possesses exceptional communication skills developed through his leadership role as the head of resident doctors at Damascus Hospital. He is well-versed in various procedures including central venous catheter insertion, hemodialysis catheter insertion, paracentesis, thoracocentesis, lumbar puncture, intubation, and tracheotomy. In addition to his general medical expertise, Dr. Alkrad has specialized skills in hematology, including peripheral blood smear preparation and reading, bone marrow aspiration preparation and reading, bone marrow biopsy preparation, and cerebrospinal fluid drug and chemical injection.

Dr. Johns brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our institution, having completed his super-specialty training in Surgical Gastroenterology (MCh) from India. He boasts a distinguished career as a Consultant Transplant and Hepato-pancreatico-biliary Surgeon in renowned medical institutions. His clinical proficiency encompasses advanced procedures such as living donor liver transplantation and minimally invasive HPB procedures, including robotic and laparoscopic techniques. Dr. Johns is a certified da Vinci® Xi robotic surgeon who has played an integral role in a team that successfully completed over 150 robotic liver surgery. Additionally, he actively engages in clinical research endeavors, with numerous publications in esteemed international journals and involvement in multiple clinical trials. His commitment to advancing medical knowledge is further underscored by his role as a member of the Vanguard Committee of the International Liver Transplant Society. With expertise in complex procedures and a focus on transplant oncology, he continues to make impactful contributions to the medical community.

Dr. Rawia Mubarak Mohamed is a Consultant in Anatomic Pathology, bringing extensive expertise from her practice in Abu Dhabi and the GCC. She earned her MBBS in Saudi Arabia in 2004. In 2011, she achieved a distinguished fellowship in Anatomical Pathology and Cytology, solidifying her expertise in the field. With over a decade of invaluable experience, Dr. Rawia Mubarak Mohamed has held pivotal leadership roles within prestigious medical institutions. Notably, she served as the visionary Head of the Anatomical Pathology Lab at several renowned laboratories, leading groundbreaking initiatives and fostering an environment of unparalleled innovation. Dr. Rawia’s extensive contributions to pathology are reflected in her research and publications, with a particular focus on neuropathology. As an esteemed author and a highly sought-after speaker at national and international conferences, she has consistently pushed the boundaries in her specialized areas, such as women’s health, neuropathology, gastrointestinal pathology, and the full spectrum of oncology.

Dr. Merin Eapen underwent her undergraduate medical training form Calicut University India, Further to that her residency in Pediatrics in India with MD Certification and higher speciality training, Doctor of Medicine(DM) in Pediatric Neurology from Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, India (3 years). She has more than 8 years of experience in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Neurology in India. Her clinical expertise includes interpretation of Electroencephalography (EEG), Nerve conduction studies (NCS) and Electromyography (EMG) and administration of Botulinum toxin (Botox). She evaluates and treats children with epilepsy including self-limited epilepsy, genetic epilepsies and refractory epilepsies.  She does developmental assessment for infants and children for early detection of developmental delay and continue with their evaluation and management. Dr. Merin works alongside the team of Occupational Therapists and Speech Language Pathologists for the management of children with autism. She can provide services like behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to children with ADHD along with the Clinical Psychologist who works concurrently with her team. Dr. Merin integrates with her team in managing the rehabilitation services to children with cerebral palsy and neuro degenerative diseases. She provides cognitive assessment service for intellectually disabled children and children with poor scholastic performance along with Clinical Psychologist. She is passionate about teaching and was a faculty in the department of Pediatric Neurology teaching medical residents in Government Medical Colleges in India. She was a faculty in workshops in state and national conferences of Pediatric Neurology. She has presented papers in national and international conferences and received AOCN award in 2021 and NESSAN award in 2022.

Dr. Shrikant B. Wadekar holds an M.B.B.S. and an M.D. in Anaesthesia from institutions in India, supplemented by a PDCC in Cardiac Anaesthesia from Madras Medical Mission, Chennai. His expertise includes anaesthesia and cardiac anaesthesia. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Wadekar has served as a Specialist Anaesthetist in Abu Dhabi and currently practices in India. He has also held roles as a Cardiac Anaesthetist and Visiting Consultant Anaesthetist, contributing significantly to the field. Dr. Wadekar is an active member of esteemed organizations such as the Indian Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiologists (IACTA), Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA), and others. He also maintains memberships in international societies like ESRA and ASA, showcasing his dedication to professional growth and global collaboration.

Dr. Susheetha Swaminathan is an experienced and skilled Specialist Anesthesia. Dr. Susheetha earned her MBBS from Salem in 2003 and completed her M.D. in Anesthesia in 2012. With a wealth of experience as a Consultant Anesthetist in various hospitals in India, she brings a high level of expertise to our institution. As an anesthesiology expert, Dr. Susheetha Swaminathan has accumulated over 12 years of experience in the field. She holds numerous presentations and publications in her name and is a lifetime member of various medical societies, including the Academy of Regional Anesthesia, the Indian Society of Anesthesiology (ISA), and the Medical Council of India (MCI). As a highly skilled Consultant Anesthesiologist known for her expertise in regional anesthesia techniques and commitment to patient safety, Dr. Susheetha excels in regional anesthesia, acute pain management, trauma anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, onco-anesthesia, and more.

Dr. Mohamed Ahmed El Gazzar is a skilled Specialist in General Surgery, bringing vast expertise from his extensive practice in Egypt and the UK. Dr. Mohamed Ahmed El Gazzar pursued his M.B.B.Ch from Egypt in 2006. Later, he completed MRCS Parts 1 and 2 in 2011 from London. He secured his Master’s Degree in General Surgery in 2013 from Egypt. Bringing a wealth of experience from various renowned institutes across Egypt, the UK, Germany, and Spain, he possesses a high level of expertise that enriches our institution. With more than 14 years of experience and a diverse skill set, before joining Burjeel Medical City, he served as the Vice Head of the General Surgery Department as a Consultant General Laparoscopic Surgeon in Egypt. He has also served key roles such as Attendant in the General Surgery Department, Registrar in General and Laparoscopic Surgery, Senior Registrar in Laparoscopic General Surgery, etc. He has surgical experience in all minor procedures, anal surgeries, open and laparoscopic appendectomy, cholecystectomy open and laparoscopic, various hernia repairs, etc.

Dr. Roaa Abbas is a General Practitioner with five years of diverse medical experience. Graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in Sudan in 2016, she began her career in 2018, excelling in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, and Pediatrics. Her expertise spans both private and governmental hospitals, where she specializes in in-patient and out-patient care, managing obstetric emergencies, and providing comprehensive antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care. Dr. Abbas holds certifications in Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support, demonstrating her commitment to high standards of patient care.
